Rhyming Pocket Flash Cards

Pocket Flash Cards make it easy to practice rhyming words! Have fun as you play alone or with friends. Create your own games, too!

Naming Fun. Stack all the cards into one pile. Have fun going through each card and telling what the picture is. Check your answers on the backs of the cards. Once you know all the pictures, you are ready to play the rest of the games.

Match Two. Lay out all the cards, pictures facing up. Match each picture with the picture that shows a rhyming word.

Words Up. Sort the cards into the two sets of rhyming words. Turn all the cards so the pictures are facing down. Read the word. Match each word to the word that rhymes.

Rhyme Time. Have fun thinking of more rhyming pairs, too. Write out some rhyming poetry with your new words.

Draw a Rhyme. Shuffle all the cards. Deal five cards to each player. Place the remaining cards in a draw pile. Take turns drawing a new cards from the draw pile to make rhyming pairs with the cards in your hand. When the draw pile is gone, the player with the most rhyming pairs wins.

Go Fishing for Rhyming Words. Shuffle all the cards. Deal five cards to each player. Place the remaining cards in a draw pile. Players may either ask another player for a matching rhyming word or draw a card from the draw pile. When the draw pile is gone, the player with the most rhyming pairs wins. For an added challenge, when a player makes a rhyming pair, he or she has to say a rhyming poem using the pair or other words that rhyme with the pair.
