In Depth Opposites Flash Cards

Opposites Pocket Flash Cards

Pocket Flash Cards make learning opposite's fun! Play these games alone or with friends. Create your own games, too.

Opposites Charades. Shuffle all the cards. Place the cards in a stack in the centre. The first player draws a card randomly from the centre of the stack, keeping the card a secret from the other players. Player one acts out the word on the card or finds something in the room to depict that card. The other players try to guess the word and have to also name the opposite. Play resumes with the next player.

Naming Fun. Stack all the cards into one pile. Have fun going through each card and telling what the picture is. Check your answers on the backs of the cards. Read the sentences, too. Once you know all of them, you are ready to play the rest of the games.

Match Two. Lay out all the cards, pictures facing up. Match each picture with the picture that shows the opposite.

Words Up. Sort the cards into the two sets of opposites. Turn all the cards so the pictures are facing down. Read the word and the sentence. Match each word to the word and sentence that means the opposite.

Here are some fun games to play with two or more friends.

Opposites Attract. Shuffle all the cards. Deal five cards to each player. Place the remaining cards in a draw pile. Take turns drawing a new card from the draw pile to make opposite pairs with the cards in your hand. When the draw pile is gone, the player with the most opposite pairs wins.

Go Fishing for Opposites. Shuffle all the cards. Deal five cards to each player. Place the remaining cards in a draw pile. Players may either ask another player for a matching opposite or draw a card from the draw pile. When the draw pile is gone, the player with the most opposite pairs wins.
